Week 1- Form fitting and Dart manipulation

Week one was a good and interesting opportunity for groups to meet and bond whilst taking part in an dart manipulation exercise.

Step 1
Firstly the mannequin was covered in spot and cross paper and covered in cello-tape to firmly create a tight fitted dress.

Step 2

Several lines with various shapes and sizes where drawn onto the mannequin to create pattern shapes.

Step 3

Notches where applied and the unwanted pieces of the garment where cut off and discarded.

Step 4

The shapes where then cut out named and numbered so that things didnt get too confusing

Step 5

After the shapes where cut out and traced onto another lot of spot and cross paperwith added seam aowance, they where the cut out again and placed in different orders to create a new and interesting gamrment shapes.

Step 6

Both pattern peices where then merged together to create one garment. The compiment each other well with the different shapes sizes and textures.
Overall this week was a success, reason being that before this lesson i never had the chance to experiment with pattern cutting, i enjoyed this new learning opportunity .
